The past couple weeks have been filled with a TON of fun, family, and traveling. We were so excited to have Brock's parents come and visit us in Germany. I definitely lucked out the most because while Brock had to work throughout the weekdays, I got to travel all over with my fabulous in-laws. We had so many fun adventures throughout Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. We wouldn't have been able to see so many awesome things if they hadn't come and I was so excited to spend time with family! Here are some highlights from our travels.
Brock and I celebrated on the day of our 1 year annivarsary by eating out in this beautiful little city called Esslingen.
While we were in Austria we hiked up these amazing gorges. We climed up a ton of stairs, but it was so worth it!
Brock giving us a good M.J. pose in the cave.
This was an awesome castle in Austria just sitting on the very top of the mountain.
We decided to visit the worlds largest ice cave and this is my face when I realize what we are doing and also realize what I am wearing....
I obviously didn't get the memo on the correct clothing to wear into an ice cave. I wasn't alone though because all four of us were in shorts and t-shirts, but luckily we did have very warm jackets. We quickly realized we were out of place when everyone else that was going were dressed like they were hitting the slopes. Every person that passed us also felt the need to stare us down, laugh, and even ask if we had other clothes hahah. But we toughed it out and were so glad we did because once we got inside the ice cave it really wasn't so bad.
This is what we had to climb up to get to the cave.
This is right before we went in... looks cold huh!
We stayed warm in the ice cave by going up and down the 700 stairs throughout the cave. We were so glad we did it. I have never seen anything like it. It was hard to get good pics of the inside because it was pretty dark.
I must say I was pretty happy to be out in the sun again after our hour in the cave. On our way down we didn't get as many stares because people knew we had just done it in shorts and all! So hah! I guess we are just built for the cold since we are from Utah.
Just stopping to smell the roses in an amazing rose garden in Vienna, Austria.
We also had a fun bus tour in the city.
This is Innsbruck where the winter Olympics were held a long time ago.
While we visited Salzburg, this was my favorite thing to see. There were a lot of shops with hundreds and hundreds of elaborately decorated eggs. They were so cool.
This was Brock's first visit to the infamous "Neuschwanstein" castle in Bavaria. Too bad part of it was under construction.
This is Lake Constance in Germany. It is huge and very pretty. There are no motor boats allowed on the lake which is a total waste of good skiing water as my family would say :)
Lucerne, Switzerland
We ended our fabulous trip back in Munich where we started. We had a great German buffet along with some fun entertainment.
Thanks Kris and Layne for all the great memories and adventures!
This fills us up!!
